The Third Conference On Free and Open Source Software for Geoinformatics

On 12-13 May 2011 the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics and the Polish Branch of OSGeo organize the third edition of the conference on Free and Open Source Software for Geoinformatics.

As part of the regular programme of the conference there will be a number of workshops.
There is no additional fee for these workshops, but you have to register in advance.
Workshops will provide an overview of programming in Quantum GIS, a brief introduction to GRASS and data acquisition for the OpenStreetMap.

Conference sessions will take place in the John Paul II Assembly Hall in the Didactic and Scientific Center at the Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences.

We cordially invite you to attend the conference as a listener, participant or lecturer.

Bilateral cooperation between IGiG and the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa

On the 2nd and 3th of September there will be a bilateral workshop organized as part of the collaboration project between the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics and the Department of Computer Science, University of Pretoria, South Africa. The project concerns building spatial data infrastructures and geoportals using volunteered geographical information. The coordinator of the project for the South African side is Dr Serena Coetzee from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, and for the Polish side Dr Adam Iwaniak. This is the first of a series of workshops, which will be held twice a year.

Meeting of the Commission on Geospatial Data Standards of the International Cartographic Association (ICA)

From August 30 to September 1 the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics will be hosting a meeting of the Commission on Geospatial Data Standards of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). The Commission is chaired by Mr Antony Cooper from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) - Pretoria, South Africa. One of the members is Dr Adam Iwaniak from the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics.
