Open PostDoc Position in the field of Satellite Geodesy

The Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics (IGG UPWr) announces an open PostDoc position that will be funded by the Polish National Science Center in the framework of the project “Integrated terrestrial reference frames based on SLR measurements to geodetic, active LEO, and GNSS satellites” (project number: 2019/35/B/ST10/00515).

Results:

The Rector Committee for the Open PostDoc Position in the field of Satellite Geodesy at the Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics has undertaken the final decision. In total, 6 applications were received. All of them came from excellent candidates from the field of Satellite Geodesy. Half of the candidates were invited to an interview. The Committee made the final decision on the basis of the skills required for the project objectives, the publication record, and other requirements as specified in the call for the open position. According to the Committee decision, Dr Hossein Etemadfard fulfills all criteria specified in the call and has the best background preparation for the position in the project "Integrated terrestrial reference frames based on SLR measurements to geodetic, active LEO, and GNSS satellites" and thus has been selected to take up the PostDoc position.

Special lectures on seismology

We kindly invite you to series of lectures by Prof. Eleftheria Papadimitriou and Prof. Vassilios Karakostas from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Both are professors in seismology at the Geophysics Department. They will present the basics of Faults & Fault Plane Solutions. The lectures are targeted primary for Master and PhD students, but all interested on the subject are also kindly invited. The seminars will held on 4th, 5th and 6th of August from 11:00 to 12:00 on-line in the Meet channel.

COSPAR Outstanding Paper Award for Young Scientists

Committee for Space Research (COSPAR) every two year nominates candidates under 31 years of age for the Outstanding Paper Awards amongst authors of papers published in COSPAR peer-reviewed scientific journals: Advances in Space Research and Life Sciences in Space Research. The current edition covers research papers submitted for publication within 2018-2020.

COSPAR Bureau, following recommendations of the Publications Committee, recognized the contribution of dr. Pawel Hordyniec to Space Studies of the Earth’s Surface, Meteorology and Climate (Scientific Commission A) and awarded him for the manuscript entitled “Simulation of liquid water and ice contributions to bending angle profiles in the radio occultation technique”.
