The Organizing Committee of the SGP (Polish Surveyors Association) Competition for the best diploma theses defended in the field of geodesy and cartography has announced the results for the 2021/2022 edition. Among the winners of the competition, there were three theses defended at IGIG:
for masters theses:
- 1st place: Dominik Teodorczyk - "Integration of satellite radar data from the Sentinel-1 and TerraSAR-X missions for land surface deformations monitoring in Upper Silesia", supervisor: dr inż. Kamila Pawłuszek-Filipiak,
- 2nd place: Adam Pałęcki - "Correcting the geometry of laser scanning data due to axial errors of the Velodyne HDL-32E scanner", supervisor: dr hab. inż. Grzegorz Jóźków.
for bachelors theses:
- Karolina Stuchły - "Determination of deformations in Upper Silesia with the use of satellite radar imagery", supervisor: dr inż. Kamila Pawłuszek-Filipiak.
The winners of awards for their masters theses currently cooperate with IGiG; during their studies, they were members of the UPWr-Geodesy Students Organization, taking part in the "Sensorowo-roWeRowO" project, among others. In addition, Dominik took part in the Summer Internship at IGiG 2022, and Adam was among the winners of the Competition for the Ministry of Tourism and Tourism Award for his bachelors thesis. Karolinas bachelors thesis was also awarded in the National Competition of Bachelors Thesis Superstar 4 Science 2022 in the category of the Greatest Substantive Value.
